Moving directly down while on certain objects causes you to plummet towards the ground without fall damage. An easy one is the cruxtruder: standing on top of the dowel when open permits this.
To recreate:
Place a cruxtruder, open it, and stand on the top. Then, hold down (S by default). You will plummet quickly. If you place the cruxtruder in the very southmost corner of the John map after entering the medium, you can even get to the ground from the island without taking more than 3 fall damage.
